Erica Karpf Appel is a family law litigator at Young, Berman, Karpf & Karpf, where she guides clients through complex family and matrimonial matters. She pairs careful preparation with a clear, practical strategy built around what matters most to each client. Her clients get straight answers, honest assessments, and an advocate who stays in their corner from the first meeting to the final order.
Erica’s roots at the firm run deep. She started as a law clerk during law school, learning the practice from the inside, and now carries that same commitment into her work as an attorney.
While in law school, Erica served as a judicial intern to the Honorable James I. Cohn, Senior United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida. Her time in federal chambers gave her a close view of how judges weigh arguments, evidence, and credibility. She brings that insight to every hearing, negotiation, and trial.
Erica earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 2020. She served on Law Review, made the Dean’s List five semesters, and received the CALI Book Award in UCC Sales. She also graduated with Pro Bono Honors after giving more than 300 hours of public service to the Broward community. Before law school, she earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology, cum laude, from Florida State University.
Erica lives in Boca Raton with her husband, their son, and their dog, Whiskey. Her favorite time away from work is spent with family and friends.
